CR1000 unable to communicate

brbdogsonfire Jul 5, 2016 05:11 PM

I have a CR1000 direct connected to a computer with an rs232. I am unable to get it to communicate with our computer, but I have followed troubleshooting on the site. I have verified the power supply, found no shorts, tested the line running between the logger and computer, and the computer sees the logger in the client but cannot connect. The power supply was bad for about a year before I tried troubleshooting putting out only 1 volt for several months.

Sorry if this is not enough information, but I was put on this job without knowing about dataloggers so I am learning as I go. Any questions and I will get the information, but I am at this point unsure of what to try next.

What software are you using, what client?

Have you tried to connect to the logger using DevConfig (Device Configuration Utility)? You can select  Datalogger | CR1000, the COM port you are using, and the baud rate you expect the logger to be set for, then click the Connect button.Try other baud rates as well if it doesn't connect.

Once in a while my computer COM port is not working after being in locked or in sleep mode overnight. You can restart your computer or disable then re-enable the port instead. To do that, use Windows Device Manager, go to the COM ports, select the correct COM port, then right-click and select Disable. Answer Yes to disable, but No to restarting the computer. Next right-click and Enable the port and try connecting to the logger again with DevConfig.

Thanks I will try that. A coworker took the laptop to a jobsite for a few days so it will be a bit before I can give further information sadly.
