The 6897 was used to upgrade an RF95A to an RF95T. This kit could only be used to upgrade an RF95 if the PROM was not soldered into place. Otherwise, the RF95 needed to be upgraded at the factory; an RMA was required.

The 6897 included an RF95T PROM (pn 6898), a 32K RAM chip (pn 4112), a manual and a new label/sticker (pn 7211). In addition to replacing the two chips, a jumper was moved in the modem.
